A new study from the Stoop Group provides a previously missing element in the debate regarding the cause of the frequency dependence of mammalian hearing sensitivity! By using the mesoscopic Hopf cochlea model, we show that the amplifiers in the cochlea can interact to collectively give rise to the specific form of the human hearing threshold.
